Better safe than sorry! When mounting or loosening bottom brackets, the BBT-RS bottom bracket tool holding system from Park Tool ensures a firm fit of your tool on the bottom bracket cups, so it doesn’t slip. Because although bottom brackets are subjected to high torques during assembly and disassembly, some bottom bracket shells leave little room for the force-fit approach of the appropriate tool. Slipping can be dangerous and damage the bearing screw connection.
Most bottom bracket standards with and without thread are compatible with the Park Tool holding system. The BBT-RS securing tool can also be used with almost all Park Tool bottom bracket tools, to ensure safe working, and can also be configured for other tool versions. A spring-based clamping system on a threaded spindle exerts uniform, adjustable pressure on the mounted tool to ensure an ideal fit of the bottom bracket cup with the tool connection. The forces are transferred in the best possible way, avoiding damage.
